Alpaca comes
from an animal of the camel species. They live in
the Andean Highlands in Chile and Peru. Andean alpaca sweaters are recognized for their
softness, strength and most importantly comfort.
The superior benefit of alpaca is that the wool provides warmth without weight.
The sweaters are made on Links 8 gauge or Shima 7 or 10 gauge and are relatively light weight.
The wearer is comfortable at temperatures from 32 to 75 degrees, indoors or outdoors.
Alpaca hairs have a hollow core in the fiber. This provides the excellent
thermal properties described above. Using a links stitch, allows for ease of
movement, warmth without weight and exceptional comfort.
